Day 01: Introduce yourself
Oct. 16th, 2010 08:22 pmO.K., I'll take up Dave Policar's challenge.
I'm Joe (Joseph Clinton Fineman, named after my grandfathers), almost 73, about 3/4 retired from being a freelance copyeditor, comfortable, cowardly, angry, neurotic, officially bisexual but mainly queer these days, Caltech & commune alumnus, compulsive, concupiscent, convivial, hospitable, malicious, male, mirthful, misanthropic, nonlimerent, reliable, self-centered, skeptical, timid, unfashionable. My musical tastes run to popular music up to 1940. My machinery for guessing other people's motives in grossly deficient. I am hostile to mass entertainment, promotion, fashion, government interference in drugs & suicide, the financial industry, peasants, and warlords.
My attention is continually interrupted by fantasies of daring offensiveness, fantasies of lectures, twitches of shame, grievance hunting.
Nevertheless, I have a fair amount of fun, and to judge from the literature am happier than most human beings. I don't deserve it, tho.
