An Iranian strategic expert has warned that one of President Obama's daughters will be kidnapped and raped if America attacks Syria.
(The headline, in MailOnline, calls him a "diplomat".) That reminded me of something that appeared in the New York Times Magazine while we were gearing up to drive Iraq out of Kuwait:
News agencies quoted the [information] minister as saying that if war broke out, American airmen shot down over Iraq would be eaten. Later, this account was clarified. What [he] intended to say, officials explained, was that the Americans would be eaten by dogs, not by humans.
It must be kind of fun to talk like that.
